JOLINE BAYLIS
SINGER-SONGWRITER & PERFORMER
Joline Baylis has been writing songs for over 20 years, and has been performing professionally for over a decade. She has played local venues such as The WISE Hall, The China Cloud, The Media Club and The Backstage Lounge, as well as festivals around BC, including Tiny Lights, Music on the Mountain and Harmony Arts Festival. Touring throughout BC and Alberta, she has gathered a loyal following wherever she performs. In 2018 Joline was selected to participate in the Via Rail Artists On Board program, travelling East by train and playing venues in Toronto and Montreal. In 2017 Joline released her debut full-length album, Break Me Down. The album featured Kenton Loewen, Wynston Minckler, Paul Pigat and Tyson Naylor, and has been described as “fresh, haunting, and profoundly honest”.
CHORAL FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
In 2017 Joline founded Rain Coast Choir, a non-auditioned Pop/Rock community choir in Vancouver, BC. The original choir (later dubbed Rain Coast Cumulus Choir) grew from 8 members in its inaugural Season to over 50 members in 2020. Performing Joline’s original choral arrangements, the choir gave sold-out shows in venues such as the Commercial Drive Legion and Red Gate Revue Stage on Granville Island. They have collaborated with Vancouver artists such as Logan and Nathan, Daughter of the Moon, Joshua Wood, Monica Lee and Jack Garton. In 2020, prior to the pandemic, Joline formed the Rain Coast Nimbus Choir, an auditioned sister choir that offered vocalists an opportunity to explore singing at an advanced level. The group formed a tight-knit ensemble through a series of intimate house concert performances. Rain Coast Choir resumed in-person choir in Spring 2022.
Joline was also invited to guest-direct Kingsgate Chorus for their Winter 2023 season, which culminated in a beautiful performance at the WISE Hall in East Vancouver.
VOCAL COACH
With a passion for teaching song and voice, in 2019 Joline decided to move more seriously into offering vocal coaching. Most recently in 2020 she completed training in Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method Level I and II through Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio. She is excited to offer this nurturing and practical method to her vocal students.
With decades of experience as a performer, recording artist, songwriter, and choir director, Joline is passionate about working with students to achieve their vocal goals, and to develop healthy vocal function, and to experience more ease and enjoyment while singing.
